  • Underground Lisbon – Roman galleries

    Under Lisbon downtown, an amazing secret is kept hidden, the Underground Roman Galleries.

    The visits are performed in groups with the guidance of professionals from the Lisbon Museum and Archeology Center of Lisbon. No special shoes or clothes are required.

    Address: In front of nº77 of Rua da Conceição, corner with Rua da Prata (the entrance is done through the floor located in the road).
    Schedule: Open to public for short periods without a fixed schedule, our advice is to contact the Tourism Services for more details on visit times (in 2015 the visits were schedule from the 17/04 to 19/04, 10:00 to 18:00).
    Waiting times: Long queues and waiting times can be expected.
    Visit length: Around 20 minutes with long waiting times.
    Price: Free entrance.

  • Unique church – Igreja De São Domingos

    The Igreja de São Domingos is Baroque style church part of the Portuguese National monuments.

    Built in 1241,  was at one time, the largest church in Lisbon typically hosting Portuguese royal weddings. This church was almost completely destroyed in the 1755 earthquake, rebuilt until 1807 and again devastated by fire in 1959  destroying many of its important paintings and statues. In 1994 the church reopened maintaining many signs of the fire which making it truly unique.

    Built around 1890 in a Neo-Moorish style it resembles a Moorish temple with it’s red brick and domes.

    • One way, single fare tickets can be purchased on board for the price of 1,50€
    • Use this services for luggage lower then 50x40x20cm

    Taxi:

    Another option to take you to city center from the Airport is by Taxi. There are two taxi stands within the perimeter of the airport, one at arrivals and the other at departures.

    Take to following rules into account in order to avoid being over charged in your taxi ride.

    • The fare on the taxi meter should read 2,50€ (daytime pick-up).
    • Outside the city limits, city fares are charged per kilometer (km=0,42).
    • It will cost you 1,60€ for the transportation of luggage (in the car trunk) or animals.
    • Before taking a taxi, ask about the fare to other taxi drivers in the area.
    • An additional 20% is charged for services on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and for nighttime service from 9pm to 6am.
