Traveling to Lisbon and not eat Bacalhau is like leaving France without eating a “croissant”. Though Portuguese gastronomy is indeed very rich is true that it has a very special place in our table.
Traditionally, Bacalhau was chosen as the main “people” dish, either from its low price or good conservation properties (dried/salted).
These are the ones to try :
- “Pastéis de Bacalhau”, one of Portugal’s most know and appreciated recipes (Petiscos). Don’t miss one of these.
- “Bacalhau com Natas”, a very tasty recipe that puts together Bacalhau and milk cream
- “Bacalhau a Brás”
- “Caldeirada de Bacalhau”, a Bacalhau stew
- “Salada de Bacalhau”, Bacalhau cold salad served with raw onions, garlic and olive oil
